What we're doing

Saturday, January 16th
  • Woke up at 5am - email, facebook, chatting with Gwenn
  • Spent time with my kids, knowing they were leaving
  • About 9:00 we headed over to the airport to meet with a contingent from the Canadian military
  • Drove and walked around with the Canadians discussing the possibility of them using our land to set up water purification and medical clinic
  • Dropped off the Canadians at about 12:45 and high-tailed it home
  • Picked Gwenn and the kids and headed back to the airport to await the plane for our kids
  • About 2pm the kids left
  • We headed to the hospital with all the supplies Pam brought in on the plane for our kids.  Dropped them off and took some pictures to follow up for the Canadians
  • Went to team housing to find anything else that might be useful.  Mostly food.
  • Before we left, we spotted the Canadian helecopter again so I hopped on a taxi to the airport
  • Chatted briefly with Canadian military engineers checking out the size and strength of the runway... a very good sign
  • Made plans with the World Food Organization to use their facilities to store the supplies that will start flowing to us in the morning
  • Headed back to the Pye's to await a team meeting
  • Crashed
  • Got up to look for Gwenn because she never arrived back at our house
  • Found Gwenn at a hotel that had completely collapsed.  The owner had been asking us to tell his story.
  • Dropped stuff off at our house, and headed to the Pye's for that team meeting
  • Headed home
  • Email, Facebook, Haitian Spaghetti, crash at 10:30pm
